For the past four Easter Sundays now, Ibadan has played host to ace comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka and his annual comedy event, Laffmattaz. The latest installment of the event was its 5th edition and this one was tagged, "The Legends, Raves and I". This year show bids to combine the best of both the old and new generations, especially in the music industry with names such as Olu Maintain, Tony Tetuila, Artquake, Daddy Showkey, African China representing the oldies while others like Simi, Adekunle Gold, Keanzo, Spyrophreeze, Dremo, Suave, Que Peller, Skales, Big Sheff, Ara, 9ice and D’Banj and so many others filling in for the younger generation. In between the performances, comics like Seyi Law, Omo Baba, Lepacious Bose, Kenny Blind, Peteru, Shete, 13 disciples, Arole among others supplied ribcracking jokes and performances that kept the audience in stitches all night.

Part of the great things about Laffmattaz 2016 was that it gave artistes closer to home such as Keanzo, Dremo, Spyro, Peteru and Arole  the opportunity of strutting their stuff and most of them didn't dissappoint. One of the highlights from the event was Keanzo's electrifying and energetic performance that drew an ovation from most sections of the crowd. The best however was saved for last when the show's headliner, D'Banj together with his live band took to the stage much to the pleasure of the crowd, who had been eagerly waiting all evening to catch a glimpse of the Kokomaster himself.

The wave of nostalgia didn't end there as industry legend 9ice helped grace the occasion with a couple of throwback songs from his timeless "Gongo Aso" album before new industry sensation, Adekunle Gold duly wrapped up the proceedings for the day. The event which was powered by Maltina, turned out to not only be entertaining, but hugely successful as well. This is the first of the Laffmattaz series to have been completely sold out.

Nollywood veteran, Segun Arinze was also in attendance
